Cold extruded Parts
Cold heading machines can not produce too short bolts or screws whose length to diameter ratio is small. Such parts can be made with cold extruding machines. A cold extruding machine applies high pressure to a metal bank at a controlled speed to force it to flow in a die and fill it to form the required shape and dimensions. This process is called cold extrusion. Cold extrusion removes no material so it is material saving. It is easy work and highly productive. Cold extrusion can form complicated parts. Cold extruded parts have good strength and rigidity, and they are light in weight. Ideal surface roughness and dimensional accuracy can be achieved through cold extrusion.
Cold extrusion can produce not only short bolts and screws; it can also produce shaft type parts with steps, shaft type parts with cup ends or holes in their ends, tube or cup like parts with different kinds of holes, collared parts with various types of holes, disc shaped parts solid or with blind holes, cone type parts with steps or conical holes, gear type parts and so on. Following are typical examples: cross spider for universal joint, automotive input shaft and output shaft, retaining ring, shaft sleeve, automotive ball head pin, casing cover, union joint, conduit, axle hub nut, front tube, deep hole cylinder, CV joint housing…
